Monford Velaryon was the eldest child and heir of Lord Monterys Velaryon of Driftmark. He was named in honour of his grandfather. He was the lover of Prince Aeryn Targaryen. In 335 AC, he was viciously attacked in the streets of King's Landing by a group of armed men, dying from his wounds very shortly afterwards. The attack was allegedly ordered by Princess Rhaenys Targaryen out of jealousy over the feelings she held for her brother. Shortly afterwards, Prince Aeryn committed suicide, presumably out of grief.
