Lord Defender of the Stormlands is an important position in the Stormlands. The holder simultaneously holds the titles Lord of Ebonheart, Master of Blackgard, , and Lord Paramount of the Ashlands. The Lord Defender is the admiral of the Baratheon Fleet and the supreme commander of the Baratheon military army. The Lord Defender oversees all military activities in the Stormlands, naval operations and shipbuilding. The title was given to the Blackgards by King Durran, when the Blackgards were still vassals to House Durrandon. When the Blackgards were elevated to a Great House, with them claiming independence from the Stormlands, the title became more honorary, and not really official. Nevertheless, the individual who holds the title still has great authority in the Stormlands. The previous holder of the title was Lord Eddin Blackgard. After his death, the position is now vacant.

- {Trevas Blackgard}, held the title very briefly.
- Lord {Trevyr Blackgard}, younger brother of Trevas Blackgard. Commanded the Baratheon Fleet and army in several wars, including the Greyjoy Rebellion and Robert's Rebellion.
- Lord Eddin Blackgard, Trevyr's youngest son.
