"I have served your grandfather well. I couldn't save your father, but I could save you."
―Jon Connington to Aegon

Jon Connington, also known as the Griff is a major character in the sixth and seventh seasons, and was previously a recurring character in the fifth season. He is the Lord of Griffin's Roost and former Hand of the King. He saved Aegon Targaryen from the Mountain during the Sack of King's Landing.

Biography[]

History[]

Jon Connington is the head of House Connington and the Lord of Griffin's Roost, or officially, the Knight of Griffin's Roost. Virtually nothing else is known about him.

Season 5[]

Jon is seen travelling together with Aegon Targaryen on the vessel: Shy Maid. Jon takes the nickname of Griff and Aegon takes the nickname of Young Griff. He and Aegon encounter Varys and Tyrion Lannister in Volantis. Jon is separated from Aegon when Jorah Mormont captures him and Tyrion.

Jon later accompanies Varys to Meereen and, as a former Hand of the King himself, promises to help Tyrion govern the city. Both of them also mention that, if Daenerys does not return, Aegon would be the last hope they had for the Seven Kingdoms, and to rally behind him and prepare him to rule in the event Daenerys does not return.
