House Mercer of Dunharrow is a vassal house of House Blackgard, the Great House of The Ashlands located on the border of the Ashlands and the Stormlands. In a unique situation, House Mercer is sworn to House Blackgard of Ebonheart, rather than House Baratheon of Storm's End. This is due to their close proximity to and effective control of the Black Road, arguably the most important highway in the Ashlands, so for this reason they are sworn to House Blackgard.
