- "From keeping the Heartleys and Tymbers from wiping each other out, and giving us two more castles to deal with."
- ―Trevyr Blackgard, explaining the responsibilities of House Blackgard as Lords Paramount of the Borders.
House Heartley of Darkheart Hall is a vassal house that holds fealty to House Blackgard of Ebonheart. Their lands are in the heart of the Ashlands, located along the mouths of the Ashlands. Their seat is Darkheart Hall.
House Heartley's sigil is a thorny red heart ablaze on black strewn with red drops. The Heartley words are "Head, Heart, Hand".
History[]
House Heartley were once one of the many splinter clans who ruled parts of the Ashlands as lesser kings during the Age of Heroes. The Heartleys hold an ancient grudge against their neighbors, the Tymbers of Sandkeep. The two houses, which hold the blood of the First Men in their veins and merged with the nomadic Bordermen, competed for the throne of the Stormlands when it was an independent kingdom. The enmity and competition continues to this day and was increased when House Heartley converted to the Faith of the Seven.
Season 1[]
The banner of House Heartley is seen at the Tourney of the Hand.[1]
