- "Barden: Isn't it funny?
Wylla Manderly: What's that?
Barden: You can look at my face, but you shied when I said the name of the Seven."
- ―Barden and Wylla Manderly
Barden Frey is a recurring character in the third and fifth seasons and a major character in the sixth season, debuting in "The Climb". He is a notorious rapist and one of Lucius Dragen's victims during his "hunt". He is a son of Walder Frey, the Lord of the Crossing. Barden is a devout follower of the Faith of the Seven.
Barden is a surviving victim of Lucius Dragen. Lucius drugged Barden and then convinced him to simultaneously hang himself and cut off most of his own face with a piece of glass, then feed it to his dogs. His neck broken, Barden is left crippled and horrifically deformed. Prior to his disfigurement by Lucius, Barden was a sexual deviant and a sadistic pedophile who continued to enjoy watching children suffer after his crippling. Barden's true and greatest fear eventually became Lucius himself, as he was seen shaking and sweating uncontrollably when encountering him. Barden also admitted having nightmares about him. Nonetheless, Barden planned to use his vast fortune to capture and murder Lucius in revenge.
