Aemon I Targaryen, loved by history as The Late King and Aemon the Good, is the nineteeth Targaryen sit on the Iron Throne. The son of Queen Daenerys and her lover Jon Snow, the king was named after his legendary father's real Targaryen name and was born shortly after the events of the Great War. He officially ascended to the throne at the age of 38.

Aemon I's reign is marked by his dedication to peace and the restoration of his great house, the Targaryens, back to glory. Fondly remembered by the common folk for his great reforms and romance with the dangerously beautiful Aliandra, the king had many songs sung about him. Inside the court, however, few lords were willing to sing to his laws and ambition. By 354 AC, the king was brutally assassinated by a cryptic messenger sent by one of his sons.

He was a dragon rider and mounted Rhaegal.

Appearance and Character[]

Sharing a thing with his father, Aemon was said to have looked after his mother and looked "every inch a Targaryen." Ser Barristan Selmy claimed that the king had a striking resemblance to Prince Rhaegar, with his deep purple eyes and silver-blonde hair that he preferred to keep long for most of his life. In his adulthood, he grew taller and broader than most men in court.

Aemon was an intelligent young man, and unlike most men his age, he wielded a book over a sword. He learned to read at an early age and was a fan of history, he especially liked to read about his ancestors, whose victory and downfall he studied extensively to rule wisely on his own. As a child, when the queen put him to bed after a long day on the throne, the young Aegon would insist to tell his mother a Targaryen tale that he had read in the afternoon before and she listened until he fell asleep.

Due to his knowledge, the king grew to be calculating and wary of lords whom in his eyes were self-serving and unworthy of his great plans for the Seven Kingdoms, as proven by history every time.
