King Aegon VII Targaryen (born Olyvar Morrigen) was King of the Seven Kingdoms from 487 AC until his death. He and his wife (and distant cousin) Daenerys II Targaryen were the thirty-first and thirty-second members of the Targaryen dynasty to sit the Iron Throne, ruling as co-monarchs. They were the first monarchs since Aegon VI Targaryen. They ascended jointly to the throne as a result of the rebellion of 487 AC, which freed Westeros from Essosi occupation, which it had been under since the end of the Narrow Sea War twenty-five years prior. During this time, the monarchy was abolished and Westeros was ruled by a council of Essosi nobles.
Although not a member of House Targaryen by birth, he took the Targaryen name upon taking the throne. Through his mother, Daena, he was a grandson of Lord Paramount Rhaelon Targaryen of the Stepstones, great-grandson of King Viserys III Targaryen, great-great grandson of Rhaenys I and great-great-great grandson of Daenerys I.
He was succeeded by his son and heir Jonos I Targaryen.
